About

The Green Marketing Conference took place on 10 November 2010. Below is an archive of the event information.

Refresh your green marketing performance

This is the second Green Marketing Conference organised by Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) members in Peterborough. Join other organisations who want to find out more about the issues and opportunities at the Green Marketing Conference 2010 in Peterborough on 10 November.

Like it or not, green issues like climate change are here to stay and there’s every chance your customers (especially large and valuable ones if you are a B2B company) are already demanding that you have an environmental management system in place. Consumers are also increasingly asking questions like ‘is this product sustainable?’.

In a few years it will become the norm to segment your customers by their green and ethical beliefs as the ‘make or break’ for whether they buy from you or go elsewhere. In 20 years oil shortages could be causing near mass panic and businesses reliant on oil will face huge costs, unless they have an alternative ready.

The challenge is clear: to make sure you are equipped for the current implications of climate change and for the huge changes that are on the way. This is the challenge that the second Green Marketing Conference will help you to meet, with a focus on how business can adapt to remain competitive.

Responding to climate change

Climate change doesn’t have to make your business model extinct. As a marketer you need to be at the forefront of your business’s green revolution to ensure your response to climate change delivers on all these criteria:

  • There must be substance, not just greenwash.
  • All the relevant environmental legislation (now and in the future) is followed to defend your reputation.
  • You remain competitive by doing the things your customers expect.

Find some answers and inspiration at the Green Marketing Conference

The packed programme of expert speakers and workshops at this year’s conference will help you understand how climate change will affect your organisation, taking both a short-term and a long-term view.

It’s also the ideal place to hear about how organisations, and marketers in particular, can achieve a suitable blend of acting green and communicating their green credentials to customers. Despite the current economic situation, there is still huge interest in environmental performance and great opportunities for businesses that make it part of their core activity and marketing campaigns.

Speakers already confirmed for this year’s conference include:

  • Ed Gillespie, Futerra.
  • Andy Wood, Adnams.
  • Pat Dade, Cult Dynamics.
  • Sam Turner, Jutexpo.
  • Kevin Misselbrook, Access UK.
  • Rob Harward, Riverford Organic Vegetables.
